About the Conference

The Youth Behavioral Health Summit in Barrow County is a conference with expert speakers addressing Trauma Informed Care, Gender Expansive Youth, Resiliency, TraumaPlay, and Language and Poverty. The Youth Behavioral Health Summit proclaims the  You Matter movement to address the incidents of suicide in our community.  We have reserved space for 300 practitioners so please register now.

Snacks, Coffee, Water, Lunch, t-shirt, and CEU’s are included in the registration fee. There will be door prizes also!

March 15, 2019

8:00 – 8:30 am: Registration

8:30 – 9:45 am:  Opening Remarks and Keynote Speaker Featuring Dr. Anna Scheyett, “Supporting Children and Families in a Trauma-Filled World”

9:50 am – 12:50 pm: Morning Sessions Featuring Three Options: (A) Paris Goodyear-Brown“From Regulation to Reason: Co-Regulating Elementary School Aged Kids” or (B) Dr. Jennifer Elkins“The Road to Resilience: Understanding Risky Behaviors in Youth Exposed to Trauma” or (C) Porter Jennings“The Unique Needs of Immigrant Families”

12:50 – 1:30 pm: Grab and Go Lunch (Provided)

 1:30-4:30 pm:  Afternoon Sessions Featuring Two Options:  (A) Paris Goodyear-Brown“Creative Interventions for Anxious and Angry Adolescents”, or (B) Dr. Garry McGiboney and Arianne Weldon“Misdiagnosis and Missed Opportunities: Language as a Missing Link in Students’ Behavioral, Mental Health, and Education Outcomes” AND Dr. Nicholas Forge“In Our Care: Supporting Sexual and Gender Expansive Youth”
